Central UMC wants to reward deserving students with the ability to afford higher education. Applications for the Dr. John Robert Hanson Scholarship are available in the church office. Eligibility is limited to applicants in our community, with priority given to members of our church or children of church members. The scholarship is $1,000 per person, payable to an accredited school for tuition and essential fees.
The application deadline is August 15, 2025.

All of us at Central were sad to learn that our long-time custodian, Janet Nuckoles, passed away on December 4 at Augusta Medical Center. Janet was a loyal worker, Central member, and friend. She will be missed greatly by all of us.
Central United Methodist Church is accepting applications for the position of Music Director.
General Description: Plays piano at Sunday worship services. May play organ as well. Organizes and directs choir. Works with the pastor to select songs for worship services.
Salary: depending on qualifications.
Part time Position opens immediately. Applications accepted until position filled.

Helping Hands Day Camp is a cooperative ministry of Emmanuel Episcopal, Central United Methodist, First Presbyterian, Second Presbyterian and Covenant Presbyterian Churches. Children who completed grades K through 5 during the 2023 – 24 school year are invited to participate. Please complete the registration form below.
Date: Monday, 29 July, from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. through Friday, 2 August, from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
Location: Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2001 N. Coalter Street, Staunton.
Activities are Bible-based and include music, crafts, recreation, cooking, science, mission projects as well as Bible Study.

Brenda Orebaugh began working at Central on November 22 as our new Administrative Assistant. She comes to Central with lots of experience including 27 years working for the City of Staunton. We are delighted to welcome her to CUMC!
